Cant say I can tell the difference by the seat of my pants with Shell V-Power and Tesco Momentum. Tesco is so much cheaper though. Tried some asda 95 as it was an emergency fill up. Probably 5mpg worse. Thats on a turboed engine. Shell V-power diesel seemed to improve fuel consumption but not enough to justify the cost.
This is precisely why I recommend Super and specifically Shell V-Power. Get back into it and there's a chance it will clean up your engine's fuel system as it used to do. Fri 13 Nov 2009 08:37. Winter diesel and Shell V Power - Peter D. IS that due to the deisel itself or the engine performace at a lower temperature. You would have to have a tank of winter deisel and nice warm day and along run to identify where the loss is. Regards Peter.
However, the TV programme Fifth Gear tested ordinary diesel versus BP Ultimate and Shell V-Power on a dyno, using a Citroen C5 2.2HDi as the test car. Between each run on the different fuels, the tank was drained, lines flushed and then the car dyno'd on the new fuel.
No improvement to power (although SuperChips took care of that with a map that added 86bhp and bags of torque!), no improved mpg, nothing really. So it's a personal call really. If you buy diesel from shell all you are paying extra for is the 'special' detergents. If that's worth it for you then go for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
