Hoka's are popular with Ultra runners because, for one, they have orientated their sales and marketing to Ultrarunners. The best shoes for Ultra running are the shoes you are most comfortable in. You are a LONG time on your feet. I'd look at other Brooks options before going elsewhere, would be my recommendation. I'm (unfortunately) a Nike runner.
